Matt Watson is back, and this time the Bitter Barista-turned-music producer (of Curry NA Hurry fame) has a message about pumpkin spice. Watson, who goes by the moniker "Spekulation" in the music world, has teamed with Seattle rapper Jesse Dangerously to produce a new tune called "Pumpkin Spice Illuminatte." Behold the video below, but be warned: it contains graphic language and nudity.
Pumpkin spice in its myriad forms—latte, donut, chocolate, and so on—draws its fair share of ridicule this time of year. But according to Watson, "If the song had just been about how stupid pumpkin spice is, it would have been entertaining for about three seconds. There's a self-awareness to the whole thing, and definitely an appreciation for how ridiculous the whole craze has become."
Does Watson plan to hit YouTube with more food and drink related songs in the near future?
"Well, they say that you should make art about what you know, so I guess this is a natural progression, but I doubt I'll be making any other food-related songs in the near future. Stars just happened to align this year. I'll be back to releasing politically-charged, emotional rap songs before you know it."
