CAPITOL HILL — With so many restaurants opening or newly opened on Capitol Hill, it's no wonder many are struggling to staff their kitchens. CHS reports that back of the house workers are in demand, but many struggle to afford to live in the neighborhood or find reasonable public transportation to help them get to work. [CHS]
U DISTRICT — CaliBurger opens its first U.S. outpost on Wednesday in the U District, but if you go there tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can eat for a good cause, as 25 percent of proceeds will go to benefit the University District Food Bank. And one more bonus: on Wednesday, the first 50 people in the door will get a free CaliBurger and fries, and two of the first 100 people inside will win free CaliBurger for a year. Doors open at 11 a.m. [EaterWire]
BALLARD — Stoup Brewing is celebrating its second anniversary on October 24 with festivities beginning at noon. Look for new beer releases (including a Munich-style Helles and the return of Export Stout), new sours, and food trucks Fez on Wheels and Ballywood Creamery. Later, there will be live music in the taproom. A full schedule will be available on Stoup's Facebook page. [EaterWire]
