Get set, Naka fans: There's already a mushroom feast on the books for next week, and now comes word of another development at young Shota Nakajima's new kaiseki restaurant: a four-course, $35 bar tasting menu will debut Wednesday, October 28. The new bar tasting menu will change monthly, always featuring a protein, rice, soup, and dessert. The premiere menu will be:

Two oysters

Bitter green salad

Pork belly, rice, and miso soup

Ginger panna cotta

This is a boon for diners who want the Naka tasting menu experience, but can't swing the $75 to $170 that the longer kaiseki menus run in the dining room. Along with the upcoming four-course bar menu, the bar will continue to have a la carte offerings ($8-$39).

The bar is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Food must be ordered an hour before closing time. Naka is closed on Tuesdays.
