After three and a half years, the International District's Shabu Chic will shutter at the end of this month. As the restaurant's website advertises, owner Kein Ha designed Shabu Chic to be "Seattle's dedicated shabu shabu restaurant," which is a Japanese variant of hot pot. In a message posted on Facebook and the restaurant's website last night, Ha reports:

It is with mixed emotions that we will be closing our doors at the end of this month. This decision was difficult but it will give me the opportunity to spend more time with family, including my young boys - Lincoln (4) & Jackson (0.5) who are missing valuable time with their daddy.

For over 3.5 years it has been our privilege to serve food to some of the most wonderful people we've ever met - many of which we now consider friends . . . Our last day will be Nov 1st.

No word yet on what might be next for Ha.
