5 Holiday Events to Get You in the Spirit(s)

Get your datebook ready.

Ryan Reiter

It’s around mid-December that holiday events really start ramping up, and with so many invitations clogging your Facebook inbox, it can be hard to manage your datebook. Here are a handful of great events:

Winter Feast, 12/13 at Fremont Sunday Market

What happens when the Fremont Sunday Market marries the Mobile Food Rodeo? Winter Feast, which takes place this Sunday, December 13, from 10am-3pm. On site at the regular antique-laden Fremont market, this week’s fete features 20 food trucks, including Ezell’s Express, Picnic, and Anchor Pretzel. Local crafters will have inexpensive gift ideas to browse while you munch, and heated patio heaters will line the streets. Free admission and details on Facebook.

Bait Shop Turns 3, 12/14

Linda Derschang’s north Capitol Hill hot spot, Bait Shop, turns three on Monday and a holiday-themed anniversary party is on the books. A holiday sweater party will include happy hour taco specials, frozen gingerbread drink specials, and free cake. Holiday surf band Dancer + Prancer will also be rocking out at the free event with live music. It all starts at 9pm and is free to partiers 21+.

Fernet Holiday Drinks at Single Shot, 12/15

Lovely Capitol Hill bar Single Shot turns into a one-stop shop for Fernet Branca cocktails in holiday drinks on Tuesday. A menu full of drinks featuring the polarizing spirit was designed for the event by one of our favorite bartenders, Single Shot bar manager Brady Sprouse. The party starts at 10pm and features $5 shots of Fernet.

Vendemmia Pasta Cooking Class, 12/19 at Vendemmia

Chef Brian Clevenger of Italian restaurant Vendemmia kicks off a series of pasta classes on Saturday, December 19. The introduction to pasta class will feature "super hands-on" training with students learning the basics of making and rolling dough and cooking pasta. The class is limited to 10 people, with students getting tips on making cavatelli and ravioli before enjoying lunch and plenty of wine at the restaurant. Class is $75 and RSVPs can be made to info@VendemmiaSeattle.com or 206.466.2533. Future class dates include 1/9, 2/6, and 3/5.

Women Who Love Whiskey Rye Event & Gift Exchange, 12/21 at Liberty

Push aside the false wall at the back of Liberty on 12/21 and you’ll stumble upon a gift exchange/holiday cookie-ful/holiday movie viewing/ugly sweater contest disguised as a super informative rye event. Hot drink stations will fill up the secret back room event space and one attendee could win a membership to WWLW. Plus, money will be raised for locally placed Syrian refugees. The event takes place from 7pm on. For RSVP info, email info@womenwholovewhiskey.com.
