Congee addicts rejoice: Kraken Congee is adding Sunday brunch to their offerings. Each week at 10 a.m., Garrett Doherty and Shane Robinson , founders of this pop-up-turned-brick-and-mortar, are adding a few mouthwatering brunch spins to their congees (rice porridges) for an eventual 10-item menu.
After the first round this week, favorites include the "No. 5 Congee," a steamy bowl of barbecue pork, egg, bok choy and crispy rice noodles, and the "Bo Ne-Op La," a hearty helping of mixed meat with eggs and a fresh baguette. Each dish is complemented with zesty drinks like "The Dragon’s Breath," a vodka, mango shrub and soda cocktail with lick-worthy chili-lime salted rim.
With their brunch menu, the chef duo are "able to show off a little more technique," mentioned Doherty. Even better: On every Seahawks home game Sunday, brunch is served next to an all-day pig roast with drink specials and giveaways. Kraken Congee is open Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
