Rob Roy Family Opening Two New Bars in Belltown

Forecast this summer: mai tais and a beer patio

Shipwreck Design

Anu and Chris Elford’s new Rob Roy spin-offs — the trade winds-themed Navy Strength and taproom No Anchor — will open in Belltown this summer.

Navy Strength is going for a tropical, maritime feel. What’s different is they’re staying away from traditional tiki: Think nautical wood and groovy light fixtures, not thatch. Here, Anu will offer classic drinks like mai tais and navy grog. Not into rum? Navy Strength promises more modern cocktails like mixologist Zac Overman's aquavit-based "Balsa Raft" and Marco Dionysos's "Chartreuse Swizzle."

Chris’s pet project No Anchor will have a cozier, more eclectic tone and a strong focus on beer. It’s set in a small oddities shop that allows 35 people inside, plus outdoor patio with tables. Being a certified Cicerone, Chris is hard at work formulating a quaffable, seasonal beer menu to underscore trends in brewing.

Menus and location are yet to be announced, but both places will act as full service restaurants. As far as shift changes go, the Rob Roy team is keeping it in the family. Chris is heading No Anchor, while Anu will be spending most of her time managing Navy Strength. Back at Rob Roy, Jesse Cyr is taking the helm as general manager.
