You've been patiently waiting for Seattle's first cat cafe, and the good people of Seattle Meowtropolitan are almost ready to put you out of your misery.
Though they're not opening a permanent location just yet, Seattle Meowtropolitan is giving you your coffee-and-cats fix with a pop-up cafe on February 14 and 15. The pop-up, which will be held at FLUTTER Studios in Pioneer Square, "will simulate the permanent one due to open in the middle of this year." Admission is $10 for 30 minutes of cat time, and they are taking advance reservations via the Seattle Meowtropolitan website. A reservation guarantees you a spot, of course, and a complimentary cup of Herkimer coffee.
Seattle Meowtropolitan is trying to become the city's first cat cafe, though their Indiegogo campaign last month fell short of its total fundraising goal. There's another potential cat cafe hot on their heels; Seattle Kitty Kafe hopes to open in the University District this fall. Both are capitalizing on a trend in Asia involving coffee shops filled with free-roaming cats, because that's a thing.
