Belltown is becoming Gotham on Tuesday night, when two bartenders from Death & Co -- one of New York's best and most famous bars -- descend on Rob Roy for a takeover. From 6 to 9 p.m., barkeeps from the East Village cocktail bar will be shaking, stirring, and swizzling their way through cocktails from the newly published book, Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails for the lucky attendees who snagged the $55 tickets.
If you weren't one of the sell-out crowd who scooped a shot at drinking NYC cocktails and taking home a copy of the book, you can still taste the drinks. Rob Roy owner Anu Apte is a big fan of the NYC bar, and says she "simply could not say no" when she was approached about the takeover. For their part, the beloved Rob Roy will keep a copy of the book around and are happy to make cocktails from it in addition to their own delightful drinks that grace the RR menu on the regular.
Tour organizer Cooper Cheatham says they chose Rob Roy because of how respected it is within the Seattle community. "It's one of the pioneers of the craft cocktail movement in Seattle like Death & Co was in New York City." The country crawl started back in October 2014 with a kick-off at the Bowery Hotel and has included stops at the Portland Cocktail Week, and in LA, Vegas, DC, Austin, and more.
