Chef Lisa Nakamura announced today that her upcoming restaurant, Gnocchi Bar, has secured a lease on Capitol Hill and will open -- if all goes according to plan -- later this month. Gnocchi Bar is taking over a space in the Packard Building on 12th Avenue vacated by D'Ambrosio Gelato. The chef says that she'll continue to serve D'Ambrosio Gelato while she and her team build out the space.
Nakamura closed her Orcas Island restaurant Allium in late 2013 to concentrate on a project in Seattle. She raised funds via an Indiegogo campaign for Gnocchi Bar, which will draw inspiration from one of Nakamura's most popular dishes at Allium.
Nakamura's opening date is still TBD, but she is aiming for later this month. Gnocchi Bar will open at first for dinner only, and will later add lunch and brunch.
