2015 seems to be shaping up nicely for Seattle's restaurant scene. Sure, we're bidding adieu to spots like Shanik and Boat Street Cafe, but there are also a flurry of anticipated openings to look forward to. The scores of customers consoling themselves over heaping plates at Gnocchi Bar seem to indicate we're going to make it after all.
Chophouse Row
Location: 11th Avenue, Capitol Hill. Website.
The Scoop: The massive project will contain Ericka Burke's Chop Shop Cafe & Bar and Chop Shop Juice and Provisions, Kurt Timmermeister's Kurt Farm Shop, a second outpost of Bar Ferd'nand from Matt Dillon, and a two-level cafe and bakery called Amandine from Bruce and Sarah Naftaly.
Projected Opening: May 1
Meat & Bread
Location: 1201 10th Avenue, Capitol Hill. Website.
The Scoop: The much-anticipated new outpost from the British Columbia sandwich chain should include popular items like the porchetta sandwich with salsa verde.
Projected Opening: April 13
Canal Market
Location: 2919 Fuhrman Avenue, Portage Bay. Website.
The Scoop: Ericka Burke's promises to be a "modern day take on an old-fashioned mercantile, offering a varied selection of groceries and home goods." She'll also have a breakfast buffet, take-away food, and smoothies.
Projected Opening: Early April
Kraken Congee
Location: 88 Yesler Way, Pioneer Square. Website.
The Scoop: Kraken Congee is laying down roots in Pioneer Square, taking over the just-closed Little Uncle space. Co-owner Shane Robinson tells Eater that they’re hoping to open the permanent iteration of their popular pop-up very soon.
Projected Opening: Early April
New Ethan Stowell Project Downtown
Location: 99 Union Street, Downtown. Website.
The Scoop: Eater reported this morning that Ethan Stowell is planning an as-yet-unnamed project to replace ART Restaurant & Lounge in downtown's Four Seasons Hotel.
Projected Opening: Spring
Looking more like summer and fall: Mollusk, 7 Beef, Renee Erickson's two new Capitol Hill projects, Hot Cakes on Olive Way, Josh Henderson's projects, Salare, Frēllard Pizza Company, The Carlile Room, and Vendemmia.
