After launching breakfast and dinner service early last month inside the new Palladian Hotel on the seam of Belltown and Downtown, seafood-centric Shaker + Spear is now open for weekday lunch (11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and weekend brunch (Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.).

Lunch features a small collection of soups, salads, sandwiches, and stews. The salmon pastrami sandwich melds chef Walter Pisano’s love of Northwest ingredients with his native New Jersey deli roots. You certainly won’t go thirsty; libation choices — including cocktails, beer, and wine — outnumber the food options more than two to one.

Brunch includes the familiar (steel-cut oats, cornmeal pancakes), along with twists on classics (baked duck eggs, cod frittatas). It's all complemented by cocktails and fresh-squeezed vegetable juices. —Haley Shapley
