Good Citizen Dangerously Close to Opening in Capitol Hill

It's probably for real this time.

Lights are on at Good Citizen. Is anybody home?

Good Citizen, the sister bar with food to Liberty from Andrew Friedman, has been en route since January of last year. Back then, the plan was for a homey ambience, food trucks running the kitchen, and a March 2014 opening. March came and went while the finishing touches were put on the space at 1720 E. Olive Way, and we haven’t heard much since.

Now, a year later, the restaurant appears to be on the cusp of throwing open the doors. Capitol Hill Seattle Blog wrote that it opened this past Friday, but an employee at Liberty says that was a private birthday party. A Facebook update on New Year’s Eve said they were almost there, and last week, they posted a photo on Twitter that gives a sneak peek at the cleaned up digs. According to a Liberty staff person it could be open any day now. We'll keep you posted as updates filter in. —Haley Shapley
