Brewers in Washington State last year opened more craft breweries than anywhere else in the country, reports the Washington Beer Blog. All told, 83 new breweries unlocked their doors in 2014, compared with 67 in New York, 59 in California, and 55 in Colorado.
Craft beer is doing well in the U.S. as a whole. Country-wide, 615 breweries opened last year and there are currently 2,051 in the works. In terms of the types of beer consumed, IPAs held 22.7 percent of the market share and grew in volume by 46.9 percent. The Session IPA grew by a whopping 323 percent in 2014.
