Nate's Wings and Waffles is Expanding to the CD

It's a slam dunk for Nate’s Wings and Waffles which, just seven months after opening in Rainier Beach, now announces a second location hitting the Central District this fall. In a build out of the former Ambassel Ethiopian Restaurant space, the new Nate's will serve more of the wings The Stranger has praised as "always good, and sometimes unfuckwithably great," and potentially more in an extended menu, Capitol Hill Seattle reports.

Owner Darren McGill (formerly of the Happy Grillmore food truck) started the project that became the first Nate's last year with Marcus Lalario (Li'l Woody's), originally planning to call the restaurant Fat's Wings and Waffles. When McGill and Lalario parted amicably in June, McGill linked up with NBA point guard and Rainier Beach local Nate Robinson, who "reportedly had been frustrated by his attempts to bring a Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles franchise to Seattle," Capitol Hill Seattle says. Building Nate’s together in McGill's home neighborhood seemed like a perfect fit. Expect a full bar and more in the new outpost; stay tuned for more details.
