If you haven't already heard, Epic Ales brewer Cody Morris and Gastropod chef Travis Kukull are opening a new restaurant-brewery, Mollusk, in South Lake Union later this year. While Morris will split his time at the two spots, Kukull is leaving Gastropod forever to oversee the goings on at Mollusk.

Which means Gastropod needs a new chef. And the restaurant is inviting its diners to weigh in.

Two local chefs will battle it out for the lead spot in Gastropod's miniscule but well-respected kitchen. They'll cook pop-up dinners later this month, and diners will receive voting cards to select their favorite.

First up is Chef Sasha Rosenfeld, who will cook from May 19 through May 23. Rosenfeld was sous chef at Artusi and has cooked at Spinasse, Aragona, Hommage, and LloydMartin. His style involves Asian flavors, American comfort food, and Pacific Northwest ingredients.

Next up will be Kim Struts, taking over May 25 through 29. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Struts has cooked at Dahlia Lounge and Harvest Vine, and most recently was Chef de Cuisine at Spaghetti Western. His focus is on locally-sourced and sustainable food.
