Holy busy June, Ethan Stowell. Yesterday the chef announced that his Goldfinch Tavern in the Four Seasons will debut by mid next month, and now he tells Eater we can expect Frēlard Pizza Company to open next door to Tray Kitchen (4012 Leary Way NW) around the same time.

An offshoot of Stowell's Ballard Pizza Company, Frēlard will be larger (approximately 50 seats inside and 50 outside) with a beer garden-style deck, several TVs, and a kids' play area, sidewalk chalk and all. Marty Penner, who opened the Ballard branch, will be the general manager, and the same basic (beloved) menu is planned at this point. Daily delivery service from 5 to 10 p.m. will extend north to 85th Ave, south to the Lake Washington Ship Canal, east to Aurora Avenue, and west to the Puget Sound.

"We understand kids want some level of fast food and they can come here and have it with quality ingredients. It's so parents won't feel super guilty about giving kids a slice," Stowell, a father of two, says.

In time, Stowell says he hopes to install a few pizzerias of this type around the city, geared particularly for young families. Beer and wine will be available, but no hard liquor.

When it debuts next month, hours at Frēlard Pizza Company will probably start at 4 to 11 p.m. daily. Stowell also plans to add weekend lunch hours at both Frēlard and Ballard Pizza Companies shortly after opening.
