In Seattle's continuing Year of the Brewery, Ballard is on a roll this week. This Saturday, Reuben's will unveil its new 5,000-square-foot taproom, and tomorrow—just in time for Seattle Beer Week—Lucky Envelope Brewing will officially open its doors at 3 p.m.
Lucky Envelope Brewmaster Barry Chan and Director of Operations Raymond Kwan say to expect a regular brew rotation packed with traditional German-style beers like Munich Helles and Schwarzbier lagers, along with Asia-inspired beers like a Belgian Style Tripel infused with Thai ingredients. The brewery will start with six beers on tap tomorrow: an IPA, Fog Dart Pale Ale, Seattle Helles, Thaiger Mom Trippel, British Stout, and a Cherry Stout.
Also anticipate a kid- and dog-friendly public tasting room, as well as partnerships with food trucks. Lucky Envelope is named for the Chinese tradition of giving red envelopes with money to celebrate Chinese New Year and major holidays.
