It's pizza time. Ethan Stowell's new Frēlard Pizza Company, sibling to his buzzing Ballard Pizza Company, opened quietly this week at 40th and Leary. As promised, it comes complete with a beer garden-style deck, several TVs, and a kids' play area, sidewalk chalk and all.

The details are the same as when we last spoke: Marty Penner, who opened the Ballard branch, is the general manager, and Frelard offers the same basic (beloved) menu. Daily delivery service from 5 to 10 p.m. is currently running in the same zone as Ballard Pizza Company (south to the Lake Washington Ship Canal, north to 85th Avenue, and east to 3rd Ave NW), but in several weeks it will extend its range west to the Puget Sound and east to Aurora Avenue.

Beer and wine are both available, but no hard liquor, as the restaurant is particularly geared for young families. Current hours are 4 to 11 p.m. daily, and Stowell also plans to add weekend lunch hours at both Frēlard and Ballard Pizza Companies shortly.
