And it's bringing Sunday brunch.

Nate's Wings and Waffles is on a roll. Owner Darren McGill (formerly of the Happy Grillmore food truck) first announced that his Rainier Beach restaurant would be expanding to the Central District sometime this fall, but now says it's aiming to open at 1224 E Jefferson (in the former Ambassel Ethiopian Restaurant space) the first week in August.

The new 1,600-square-foot Nate's is much bigger than the Rainier Beach branch, with nearly double the seats: 50, including bar seats. McGill also hopes to add outdoor seating next spring. His wife and Nate's head chef Kryse Panis Martin-McGill will run the kitchen in both outposts for a while, and potentially transition to the Central District location eventually. Expect the same solid menu at the new Nate's, but with the addition of Sunday brunch, which will launch in the CD in August, and may spread to Rainier Beach later, too.

Finally, the new Nate's plans to stay open later. Currently, opening hours are projected to be around 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the restaurant will be open for lunch and brunch and may close around 5 or 6.
