Middle Eastern favorite mamnoon has a new chef at the top, with more new talent on the way in mid July. Former Executive Chef Garrett Melkonian, who has been with the Capitol Hill restaurant since it opened in 2013, has shifted to a Creative Culinary Development role, mamnoon tells Eater, and is now working directly with owners Racha and Wassef Haroun on "special projects."
In his stead, former sous Jimi Treen has been promoted to the interim Chef de Cuisine of mamnoon with the aim to make this a more permanent assignment. Along with his two years at mamnoon, Treen has RN74, The Dahlia Lounge, Matt's in the Market, and Poppy on his resume. On July 10, he'll be joined by new Executive Sous Chef David Gurewitz, who was most recently a sous at Spinasse, and before that kitchen manager at Little Uncle.
