Look Inside Ericka Burke's New Chop Shop, Open Today

Chophouse Row's newest addition has arrived.

After over a year of anticipation, Ericka Burke's (Volunteer Park Cafe, Canal Market) Chop Shop Cafe & Bar debuts in Capitol Hill's new Chophouse Row (1424 11th Avenue) at 5:30 p.m. today. The gorgeous new 2,800 square-foot, 67-seat cafe and bar features a large communal table in the middle of the dining room and chef Joseph Bollag (Marjorie) will serve up dishes that play masculine and feminine elements against each other, says the Chop Shop team, such as "a roast chicken or rare steak, served with bright vegetable-based sauces and bold sides." Sample mains include a roasted game hen with succotash and maitake mushrooms; and a bavette steak with heirloom tomato, smoked potato, and marrow onion toast. For small plates, expect beet cavatelli, Gioia burrata, and more.

Chop Shop currently offers dinner nightly at 5:30 p.m.; shortly it will expand hours to Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to midnight, serving up all three meals.

And bonus, downstairs around the corner from the restaurant, Chop Shop Juice & Provisions is also coming in the next few weeks with fresh-pressed juices, espresso, pastries, and grab-and-go lunches daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information and to make reservations, call 206.535.8541 or visit the Chop Shop website.
