Soba Kaiseki: Sunday, July 26

Kaiseki is in the air, Seattle. Just a month after Chef Shota Nakajima opened Naka on Capitol Hill, Japanese chefs Mutsuko Soma (Miyabi 45th) and Hiro Tawara (WA'S Kitchen) are bringing a modern take on the refined Japanese tradition to Wallingford in their Soba Kaiseki pop-up this Sunday, July 26.

Sixty-five dollars gets you a whopping seven courses of kaiseki with a Northwest flair, including bay scallop ceviche, soy ginger pork belly, and one complete course of assorted appetizers: sea eel box sushi, cream of okra, and more. The pop-up will be at Soma's Miyabi 45th and there are three seatings, but the first at 5 p.m. has already sold out. Hustle to get in at either 6 or 7 p.m., where there are currently 8 and 10 seats left respectively. Check out the full menu, learn more about the chefs, and make reservations through Dyne. Tax and gratuity are not included.

From NOLA With Love: Monday, JULY 27

The next day, the flavors of New Orleans will take over Kraken Congee in a four-course feast by Chef Jemil Aziz (Jemil's Big Easy food truck) called From NOLA with Love. For $45, expect corn fritters with crab, duck and andouille gumbo, a Cajun trio taster and more N'Awlins magic. There are two seatings at 5:30 and 7:45 p.m. with doors opening 15 minutes prior. Find all the details and make reservations here; again tax and gratuity are not included.
