After some sad whisperings to this effect this week, The Stranger confirms that Chef Tyler Moritz did pass away on Tuesday after a battle with stage four bladder cancer. Moritz spent time in some of the best kitchens across the city, including Lark, La Bête (which he co-owned with Aleks Dimitrijevic,) Stoneburner, and most recently Zig Zag. In November, Woodinville's Novelty Hill Januik Winery hosted a fundraiser for Moritz featuring chefs Mike Robertshaw (Restaurant Roux), Dimitrijevic, Manu Alfau (La Bodega), Brendan McGill (Hitchcock), Jason Stoneburner (Bastille Café & Bar and Stoneburner), Ethan Stowell, and John Sundstrom (Lark).
