Popular walk-up restaurant Kedai Makan has announced plans to move into the space at 1802 Bellevue Avenue on Capitol Hill, the former home of La Bete and Spaghetti Western.
Look for an expanded Kedai Makan to open around mid-September. That will mean actual seating, a bar program, and an expanded menu of Malaysian food. Favorites like the Nasi Goreng and Tau Yew Bak will still be available. On the bar side, expect ya dong, a Thai spirit infused with medicinal herbs and roots, served with a chaser of green mango dipped in chili salt.
"This is a game changer for us," said chef and co-owner Kevin Burzell. "We can finally for the first time, cook; no home stove, no outdoor grills and tents. I'm very excited about cooking some new food. My soul needs it!"
