Pioneer Square's Kraken Congee, Columbia City's Salted Sea, and favorite local pop-up Food and Sh*t are teaming to host a prix-fixe dinner to benefit a mutual friend who is recovering from a brain tumor. May Marquez has been battling brain cancer for 13 years and recently had an invasive surgery that requires continued chemo therapy and occupational and speech therapy, with no chance to work to support her family.
May's Mashup will have two seatings on Monday, July 13, at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., at Kraken Congee. $50 gets you five courses: Dashi Tinola Dash (ginger broth, garlic chicken meatball, chayote, spinach) and Pandan Flan Creamy (custard infused with pandan and caramelized sugar) from Food and Sh*t; Salmon Sinigang Congee (with manila clams, bok choy, and daikon) and Chap Chee Noodles with crispy tofu from Kraken; and a yet-to-be-decided dish from Salted Sea. Add an optional wine pairing for an additional $15 per person, or choose among other alcoholic drinks available for purchase. DJ DAPS1 will provide music, with a special performance by the Purple Hearts Social Club.
See more details on Kraken's Facebook page for the all ages event, and reserve a space on the restaurant's website here.
