Morris says that he and and chef Travis Kukull are closing the businesses in order to concentrate on Mollusk, their South Lake Union-based modern brew house, slated to open by the end of October. Gastropod and Epic Ales will shutter Friday, September 11, two and a half years after Gastropod opened. The 38-worthy restaurant has been known for its superbly executed "out there" cuisine. It's a sure loss for the city, but it will be interesting to see what Mollusk has in store.
