Word came at the end of last year that a new restaurant was slated for the old Dot's deli space, which shuttered suddenly (and very sadly) last June. Eriko Sugawara's Suga was originally scheduled to be ready with "Japanese comfort food" this past January, but has just debuted in the last few weeks, according to Yelp reviews first dated August 7.

Eater has not heard back from Suga about when the space officially opened, but from the street, a simple, modern, light wood interior is evident, and the four (enthusiastic) Yelp reviews so far say to expect large portions. Sugawara operated the Seattle location of the national Benihana chain for almost two decades, and in December, she told The Seattle Times, "I am Japanese, but the reason I don't go to Japanese restaurants is because they're too Americanized."

Posted hours for Suga are 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday.
