Time to get sugared up, Capitol Hill. Not only is Sweet Week around the corner, but vegan cuisine maven Makini Howell has announced on Facebook and Twitter that her new Sugar Plum vegan sweet shop is open, working out kinks as it prepares for an official soft opening around September 12 or 13. More details are to come, but the soft opening is likely to be some kind of ice cream social next month, where folks can come get a cone or a cup and see the new space. The address is 324 15th Ave E, the former home of Plum Cafe.

In the meantime, the team is currently on site readying Sugar Plum and offering treats for sale, Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last fall, Howell told Capitol Hill Seattle to expect the "old school feel of a candy shop" with "big chocolate chip cookies," bars, brownies, donuts, sweets, soft-serve and more. The ooey gooey photos already posted on Facebook suggest that cupcakes, cake pops, and who knows what else vegan deliciousness is also in store. What a fabulous world, indeed.

A Sugar Plum customer photographed these treats and posted them on Plum's Facebook page
