Super Six, the newest venture by the Marination crew, has been open nearly a week in Columbia City, and owners Kamala Saxton and Roz Edison have just announced a new chef at the top. Chad Bergman was hired as the restaurant's sous chef, but he has just shifted to executive chef since Ryan Doran (most recently sous chef at the Bookstore in the Alexis Hotel) has had to step away for family reasons.
Just before Super Six, Bergman was sous chef at Miller's Guild, and before that, he cooked at the excellent Mama's Fish House on north Maui. Saxton says the promotion is a very natural move for Super Six (Bergman has also been involved in the restaurant's menu development with Doran and Ma'ono's Mark Fuller), and Doran is staying on for the transition.
Super Six, again, is currently open Tuesday through Sunday from 3 p.m. until late, and Happy Hour is daily from 3 to 6 p.m. Expanded hours will follow with a grand opening soon.
