Listen up, Columbia City: Rookies is already one of Eater's favorite sports bars in town, and word is it's stepping up its kitchen game. Sam Doman, most recently a sous at John Howie Steak and previously at Metropolitan Grill, has hopped the bridge and replaced Paul Preciado as Rookies' executive chef, effective immediately. According to the Rookies team, Doman is aiming to use his meat background to bring more sophisticated, non-traditional, local-leaning bar fare to the restaurant.
Check out Doman's current menu below, debuting some new dishes (the slow-cooked baby back ribs; the fried chicken sandwich) and fine-tuning some old favorites (the pulled pork sandwich).
Doman is also plotting daily specials. Rookies is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight; Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight; and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
