Former Coterie Room Will Become a Belltown Cocktail Lounge

Cursed Oak aims for a November opening

Belltown event space The Coterie Room at 2137 2nd Ave will soon become a cocktail lounge called Cursed Oak. The bar's development has been underway since August, and the new owners are hoping to be open in November.

The Coterie Room was a fine-dining restaurant for two years before it was converted into an event space in September 2013 by its once-prolific co-chefs and restaurateurs, Brian McCracken and Dana Tough. The pair's ventures have fallen on tough times, though: Their Spur Gastropub next door to The Coterie Room closed in April, The Old Sage went under in June, and, finally, Tavern Law was sold shortly thereafter.

And now, The Coterie Room chapter is closed, too. New owners Mike Carroll, Josh Sharpe, and Clif Ephan will open Cursed Oak as a cocktail-heavy, spirit-focused lounge with upscale New American food, according to Carroll. That's about all the information Eater has at this juncture, but look for more details as the anticipated November opening approaches.
