Ogle West Seattle's Decadent Pie Shop Expansion

Expect more savory and sweet treats from A La Mode Pies' second location

As of yesterday, West Seattle has its very own A La Mode Pies. This is the company's second spot — the original cafe in Phinney Ridge is much smaller, and the new venue has greatly expanded the company's selection of treats, both sweet and savory.

The West Seattle location offers desserts, naturally, plus breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu includes fruit and cream pies, savory pies, coffee, draft beer, wine, and boozy milkshakes. Nitro cold brew coffee and Paul's Boutique Ginger Beer are also available on tap.

Expect items like morning quiches, "pie fries" (shreds of pie dough sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and herbs or cinnamon and sugar), ice cream, and take-and-bake gluten-free whole pies. A la Mode has also partnered with Jack's BBQ on three pies: smoked beef brisket and potato, barbecue pulled pork, and chicken pot pie. All the meat for these pies has been smoked at Jack's in SoDo.

The menu includes fruit and cream pies, savory pies, and even boozy milkshakes.

The bright, light space mixes white walls and soft yellow tones to warm effect, and features plenty of tongue-in-cheek merchandise: mugs that ask "Pie Curious?" and shirts that tout "That Pie, Dough." Signs on the walls explain the origins of some of the special equipment, like the high-speed apple peeler and the antique pie safe. There's even a "Pie Time" happy hour starting at — can you guess it? — 3:14 p.m. every day.

A La Mode Pies in West Seattle will soon host weekly Pie Mastery classes, similar to the ones currently offered at the Phinney Ridge location. There are also private group classes available.
