Originally slated to open this past fall, Brandon Pettit's Dino's Tomato Pie is nearly here. The Capitol Hill restaurant from the chef/owner of Delancey and Essex is now scheduled for March 1 at 1524 E. Olive Way.
Dino's will be a departure from the thin crust that Delancey fans have come to expect. It will be "a little bit trashier and more Jersey, more authentic to the flavors I grew up with," Pettit said.
Dino's has a website up and running, a beautiful and terrifying homage to the internet of the late 1990s as styled by Tripod and displayed by Netscape, references likely lost on anyone under 25. The site claims Dino's is "The second-best pizzeria in Seattle" (wink-wink) and notes that "Seattle's oldest pizzeria will open probably on March 1st of 2016 and be open from 4ish to 2ish."
Wackiness aside, expect this new spot to reflect Pettit's style with local ingredients like housemade guanciale, Zoe's Meats pepperoni, and kale from Willowood Farm in Coupeville.
