Eater announced back in July that Portland-based pizza chainlet Sizzle Pie, which operates four locations in PDX and one in Eugene, was getting started on a Capitol Hill location. Now Eater has learned that the restaurant, under construction in the former Po Dog and Auto Battery spaces on Capitol Hill, will open in mid- to late-April.

Sizzle Pie is known for its late hours — with delivery stretching until 3 a.m. during the week and 4 a.m. on weekends — its pizza brunch, and its massive menu, which includes gluten-free and vegan pies and outlandish flavor combinations.

The 5,000-square-foot space that Sizzle Pie will occupy at 1009 East Union Street is being transformed by Mallet Architecture in anticipation of the opening. When it arrives, Sizzle Pie will join a bunch of businesses that have breathed new life into this part of Union Street in the past eight months or so: Optimism Brewing, the Renee Erickson trifecta, and Soi among them.
