Downtown Renton is finally getting its own brewery, hopefully by June, Washington Beer Blog reports. Four Generals Brewing Company is the brainchild of Ross Hudspeth, who looks to be making the leap from avid homebrewer to professional. His will be a small three-barrel brewhouse (roughly 100 gallons) with four ten-barrel fermenters to start.
Hudspeth is setting up shop in Renton's Old City Hall building, a beautiful spot established in 1929 at 229 Wells Ave S. A Facebook post from September 4, 2015 shows off the interior with its original exposed brick and rafters; Washington Beer Blog says to expect a small, covered patio out front and live edge wood slabs for the bar and tables inside.
We are off to sign a lease! Obviously, it needs some work, but what a great space.

Hudspeth told the blog he plans to emphasize "well-balanced beers" like his Scottish red ale, his Cascadian Dark Ale, and his pale ale, rather than "over-the-top IPAs." Naturally, though, in a market driven by India Pale Ale drinkers, Four Generals will also have an example of the hoppy style. Before too long he hopes to implement a sour beer program as well — something else for beer lovers to look forward to.
