Peek Inside Sizzle Pie, the Portland Pizza Chain Arriving Thursday

It's coming to Capitol Hill along with Dark Bar

Portland-based pizza chainlet Sizzle Pie has been in the works on Capitol Hill since last summer, and its opening is just about here. The restaurant, set in the former Auto Battery space at 1009 E Union Street, will welcome its first customers on Thursday, April 28.

The restaurant is known for its bold, irreverent branding and its massive pizza menu, built around all manner of pies: vegan, vegetarian, meat-centric, gluten-free, and even breakfast pizzas with absurd names like Drugs Benedict and It's Always Sunny in Portland. There are also going to be 35 drink options including beer, wine, and soda.

Next door, in the former Po Dog space, Sizzle Pie's owners are also opening Dark Bar, a watering hole skewing divey. Dark Bar will serve distilled spirits and cocktails both inside and outside on the patio. The restaurant can fit 49 people, while the bar seats 41.

1009 E Union St, (206) 325-7437, website. Open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m.
