An Illustrated Guide to Seattle's Barbecue Side Dishes

Sides that steal the show

In honor of Eater's Barbecue Week, and in conjunction with today's map of Seattle's Barbecue Side Dishes That Steal the Show, here's an illustrated guide to the side dishes throughout the city that you simply must have on your next tray of barbecue. From mac and cheese to cornbread to whiskey, these barbecue sidekicks balance a meal.

From food truck Campfire BBQ, don't miss the bacon cheddar cornbread. At Bitterroot, make a beeline for mac and cheese and greens — and if some cheddar grits make their way into your order, so much the better. At RoRo's BBQ and Grill, score some sweet potato tots. Try the specialty at The Boar's Nest: fried mac and cheese balls.

Whether you consider it a true side or not, the gumbo at Gabriel's Fire is a must. At Kickin' Boot Whiskey Kitchen, drink your side dish in the form of whiskey. From Bourbon and Bones you'll want the white cheddar mac and cheese shells. At Brileys BBQ and Grill, cross your fingers for garlic butter green beans. And at Jack's BBQ, covet the Frito pie with brisket chili.
