Fast-Casual Vietnamese Expands to Central District

Tigerly Ox's owners are launching a chainlet

As of yesterday, the second location for Wallingford Vietnamese restaurant Tigerly Ox is open at 22nd and Madison. The grab-and-go restaurant owned by John and Jodie Tran features fast-casual dishes made from family recipes. The Trans are hoping this second location will mark a bigger roll-out of several Tigerly Oxen across multiple neighborhoods.

Take-out is a big focus at both restaurants, though the new Central District spot, with room for 15 to 20 people inside, is slightly bigger than the Wallingford original. Expect a menu similar to the one at the Wallingford location, which opened last June. Customers choose an entree base, with options including banh mi, vermicelli noodles, jasmine rice, or fresh salad. They then add a meat or tofu and other fillings to complete the meal. The new restaurant also offers dessert, beer, and wine, none of which is available at the Wallingford location.

John Tran says Tigerly Ox's emphasis is on tasty, convenient, and well-balanced food that is both hearty and healthy. The Trans are also aspiring sommeliers, currently working their way through the Northwest Wine Academy at South Seattle Community College, so thoughtful wine pairings may be in the future, too.
