Maine-Inspired Restaurant Hits South Lake Union Today

With lobster rolls, chowder, and a patio

Bar Harbor/Official

Today at 4 p.m., Bar Harbor FinestKind Provisions will mark its official opening in South Lake Union's 400 Fairview building.

The new venture has some Matt's-in-the-Market pedigree behind it: owner Ben Hodgetts, who grew up in Maine, was bartender and wine director at Matt's, and head chef Lindsey Hayter is a former sous chef at the Pike Place Market restaurant.

The menu includes Maine lobster, Dungeness crab, and Oregon Bay shrimp rolls; shrimp cocktail; Manilla clam dip; seasonal pickles; burrata salad; crab and kale caesar; New England clam chowder; and a curious thing called a cheeseburger tartar that apparently involves cheddar, "special sauce," butter lettuce, and toast. Expect the restaurant's large patio to be open when the weather cooperates.

400 Fairview's market hall is also home to a Meat and Bread, Caffe Ladro, opening-any-day mBar from the Mamnoon owners, and the forthcoming Kai Market spinoff from Uwajimaya.

400 Fairview Avenue N., (206) 922-3288, website. Open Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
