Back in September, lauded restaurant Art of the Table, an Eater 38 member, announced plans to relocate to 3801 Stone Way N, in the retail space of the Bowman Stoneway luxury apartment building. It’s the same building as new seaplane-themed Bar Charlie.
Eater has learned that chef Dustin Ronspies and wife Shannon Van Horn will serve their last meal at the current location (1054 North 39th Street) on Saturday, February 18. The new location — around the corner — won’t be ready until mid-March, so be prepared for a bit of withdrawal in the interim.
To toast the nearly 10 years on North 39th, Ronspies will offer two “Last Supper” supper club dinners on February 17 and 18 (call the restaurant at 206-282-0942 for a reservation). The restaurant will be open for regular service until then, with the signature chef’s tasting menu offered Thursday through Sunday, and an additional à la carte menu Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Ronspies and Van Horn feel the new Stone Way location will offer greater visibility compared to the off-the-beaten-path feel of North 39th. It’s also much larger, with 2,700 square feet and the capacity to seat around 60 people.
As was reported last year, the new Art of the Table will also add a bar and lounge area, which Ronspies and team have nicknamed "Under the Table." That space will offer a more casual menu and liquor, wine, and cocktails. The farm-to-table, of-the-moment tasting menus will continue, with a weekend brunch in the works post-reopening.
