This past weekend marked the end of the road for The Atlantic, an inviting Central District restaurant that opened on Jackson Street in the summer of 2016. It’s a shame to say goodbye to hits like the ginger molasses tofu bahn mi and the beef tongue French dip, as well as strong seasonal selections and a lovely patio.
The restaurant announced the decision on social media; though the Facebook page has already been deleted, the Instagram account is still visible. According to the posts, owner Lex Petras has sold the space, though there’s no word yet on who the new owner is or what the plans are for the future:
“It’s been a fun year and a half, but it’s time for the Atlantic to say goodbye to the neighborhood. We are passing the torch in order to focus on other projects. We think that the new owners are pretty great and we’re excited about what they have planned for the space.”
Petras, meanwhile, will turn his attention to his other ventures, Altstadt in Pioneer Square and Tacos de la Noche inside Bar Sue on Capitol Hill.
