As reported last week, red-hot Taiwanese chain 85°C Bakery Café will be holding its grand opening at 1341 Southcenter Mall in Tukwila February 24, near Seafood City.
In the meantime, the company has already soft-opened this week, according to a couple of satisfied Yelp reviews, and right this very minute you could be drinking 85°C’s signature iced sea salt coffee and munching on its freshly baked pastries and sweet breads (i.e. brioche breads that are sweet, infused with honey, mango, and more — not “sweetbreads,” like the organ meat of cows or sheep).
Be warned: 85°C’s hours and menu selections are limited during this trial period, a training phase for the shop. It appears the store is only open until 8 p.m. at the moment, though no one answered the phone to confirm. And the chain has a fanatical following; if its California locations are any indication, long lines will probably start forming any minute now. Good luck.
