The dive bar will make way for new development

Kiss Redwood’s sticky table tops, peanut shell-strewn floors, and “all its leaky charms” goodbye on November 16, as the Western-themed dive bar on Capitol Hill has finally settled on an official closing date. The announcement came via Facebook last month:

The bar’s closure has been a given for a while. In November 2014, word came that the bar would close after nearly a decade on Capitol Hill once its lease was up in December 2015. Since then, owners Lisa and Mat Brooke managed to scrape together six-month leases to get it to this point, while the property owner laid out plans to tear down the current building. Part of the delay was due to the first developer selling the property to a second, who is now moving forward with plans for a seven-story, mixed-use building with “small efficiency dwelling units” and studio apartments.

The good news is you still have ten months to chow down on “drunken cornbread” and vegan meatloaf sliders before the Redwood is gone forever.
