The former Louisa’s on Eastlake space that has sat empty since December will soon see new life as Otter Bar and Burger, a restaurant from the Blue Water Taco Grill group focusing on burgers and shakes.
Otter Bar’s general manager, Zephyr Paquette, tells Eater the group is fast tracking the build out and aiming for a late June or early July opening. In addition to hamburgers and milkshakes, Otter Bar will stock a full bar, though the exact menu is still being developed.
Otter Bar is named not for the mammal but for the propeller plane. (Between this and Fremont’s Bar Charlie, are plane-themed bars catching on?) An early look at sketches of the space indicate the restaurant will incorporate the plane into its design:

Fans of Louisa’s, which occupied 2379 Eastlake Ave E for 20 years, can take heart that Otter Bar is also planning to recycle some of the decor from that beloved bakery and cafe. Chandeliers, booths, and the back bar are some of the holdovers.
