Mighty-O Donuts, the local chainlet specializing in organic, vegan desserts, is setting up shop in Denny Triangle with its fourth location. The opening is anticipated for mid-August, with a grand opening celebration to follow after Labor Day.
Mighty-O’s new cafe will occupy 1,600 square feet at 1812 Boren Avenue. The menu will include Caffe Vita coffee, Puget Sound Kombucha, and egg- and dairy-free doughnuts aplenty, with flavors like French Toast, Coffee Bomb, and Raspberry Riot. There are also promises of beer on tap and savory prepared foods for anyone not harboring a sweet tooth.

Husband-and-wife owners Ryan Kellner and Megan Helmer opened their first Mighty-O cafe in 2003, and their creations are about as virtuous as doughnuts can be, with GMO-free, certified organic, and trans-fat free ingredients complementing the vegan approach. The cafes donate all leftovers to the homeless and support local schools and the nonprofit Food Lifeline. Mighty-O operates its other three locations in Green Lake, Capitol Hill, and Ballard.
