Buddha Bruddah, a food truck and catering service serving various Asian dishes in a style akin to the Hawaiian plate lunch, added a restaurant at 2201 Rainier Ave S. last week. Now in addition to their mobile options, owners Mark and Andrea Mizer have a permanent place for the public to find Asian mixed plates heaped with mains, like red curry, pad Thai, loco moco, and huli huli ginger chicken, and sides, like Hawaiian mac salad, jasmine rice, and Asian slaw.

The Mizers took over the former home of Seattle’s Best Pho in July and used the space as a commissary kitchen for their food truck and catering business while gradually working their way through a remodel. With the demands of two children and a busy business, the Mizers ended up pushing their initial opening projection back from October. But after surviving day one last week, they posted a Facebook message thanking their hard-working crew and diners who came out for a meal.

The restaurant serves lunch Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. With this larger kitchen and the addition of a deep fryer, Buddha Bruddah can add new dishes to the rotation, too: fried chicken, prawns, and Thai-style barbecued chicken are all expected to appear on Rainier Ave. For now, there’s no liquor license, so the drinks menu consists of sodas, coconut water, and Thai iced tea.

We survived day 1! Huge shout out to our crew for all of their hard work. Biggest Thank You to everyone who came out for...
