- Melvin Brewing, one of the most praised breweries to open in Washington recently thanks to its satellite location in Bellingham, has had quite a fall from grace due to allegations of sexual misconduct leveled at the head brewer and accusations that the brewery’s website made light of sexual harassment and abuse. As a result, a bunch of Western Washington bars, like Teku Tavern and No Anchor, are boycotting Melvin, dropping its beers from their line-ups.
- Chef Lisa Nakamura, who closed her Capitol Hill Gnocchi Bar in 2016 to focus on retail, is making a bit of a comeback via Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria. The restaurant has added her gnocchi to its menu, including in a meatball gnocchi special that will run at all five Tutta Bella locations through May 20.
- PCC Community Markets will open its newest store, in Burien, on May 23. The new location will include a pizza oven, taqueria with options like roasted squash and barbacoa, and a yogurt bar with yogurt from Pure Éire Dairy.
