Issaquah’s Ramen Bushi-Do has ended its run after less than two years, despite being owned by Jason Zhai and his wife Nancy, the same folks behind wildly successful local chain Dough Zone Dumpling House. Ramen Bushi-Do, opened in July 2016, appears as permanently closed on Google and Yelp, and Jason confirmed for Eater that the replacement, a Japanese restaurant called Orenji Sushi and Noodles, is not his project.
At press time, Zhai had not clarified why Ramen Bushi-Do closed, but the last Yelp review of the restaurant was published in December 2017. Orenji surfaced on Yelp right at the beginning of December itself, and reactions to the restaurant’s chicken katsu ramen and vegetable ramen are largely positive. As the name suggests, Orenji Sushi and Noodles also serves sushi rolls and sashimi, as well as some unusual beverages, like a Kahlua milk tea cocktail or the nonalcoholic Blue Drink, described on the menu as a “blue raspberry soda with shark gummies, yes!”
Orenji is located at 5625 221st Pl SE #120; it’s open Monday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
