After several months of teasers, Katsu Burger appears to be open for business at its fifth location in Ballard with tried-and-true burgers and a new sushi menu. Since mid-June, limited events and hours have been floated on the company’s Facebook page, building up a level of hype that will carry on until a grand opening on July 1. At this point, it’s safe to say that folks in Ballard can start chowing down on burgers and sushi from 4 to 9 p.m. all week long.
This outlet is Katsu’s most ambitious in terms of menu, service, and size, seating upward of 160 diners in a full-service setting as opposed to the other locations’ counter service. As for the menu, the eponymous deep-fried katsu beef, pork loin, and tofu patties are available for burgers, but there’s an additional selection of sushi too. From the look of the website, the sushi takes the form of American-style rolls, sashimi, and the promise of bento boxes. The menu is subject to change slightly in the weeks to come, with the full version available during the grand opening.

Located at 2034 NW 56th St, the restaurant is built into where Skillet Ballard once stood. It’s by far the biggest outpost. “We even put in a banquet room in the back. It’s carpeted with amazing views of the garden. [The banquet room] will be open for normal service, but [is] also available for people to reserve for get-togethers,” a rep said. “That space fits about 20 plus and the door can be shut for privacy.”
